Results the same day, on the same campus

Every routine test a patient needs during an admission is done in this building. Nothing is sent out and waited on, which is what keeps a diagnosis from taking two days when it could take two hours.

Pathology & blood tests

• Haematology — complete blood count, ESR, coagulation profile
• Biochemistry — liver and kidney function, lipids, blood sugar, HbA1c
• Cardiac markers — troponin and CK-MB, reported within the hour
• Microbiology — culture and sensitivity, urine and sputum analysis
• Serology and hormone assays, including thyroid profile

X-ray, CT & MRI

• Digital X-ray, including bedside films for patients who cannot be moved
• Ultrasound and colour Doppler
• Echocardiography, reported by a cardiologist
• CT scan — arranged through partnered centres and reported by our radiologists
• MRI — arranged through partnered centres and reported by our radiologists

Cardiac testing

• 12-lead ECG with bedside reporting
• Treadmill (TMT) stress testing
• Holter and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring

Timings and reports

The laboratory runs 24 hours a day. Routine outpatient samples given before 10 am are reported the same evening; urgent inpatient and emergency tests are reported as they are completed and go straight to the treating consultant.
