Clinical decisions belong to the treating consultant. Everything that decides whether those decisions can be carried out at two in the morning — the roster, the theatre, the estimate, the answer to a complaint — stops at this desk.
That is the whole job as we see it: making sure a patient who arrives at any hour finds a doctor already in the building, a theatre that can be opened, and a bill they were told about in advance.
- Treatment first. In an emergency nobody is asked for money before care starts.
- Written estimates before every planned procedure, with itemised billing at discharge.
- Complaints are answered. Every one is logged with a reference and read by this office.
